Honorable Prince Olaide Lateef Mohammed (Polam), the esteemed House of Representatives Member representing Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency, Oyo State, played a pivotal role in today’s plenary session at the Green Chamber.
Following the presentation of Bills and Motions of the day, the Plenary was adjourned, reconvening on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023.
Committee on Special Duties Oversight Function:
Hon. Polam actively participated in the oversight function of the House of Representatives Committee on Special Duties, led by Rt. Hon. Kabir Ibrahim Tukura. The committee received comprehensive briefings from key figures, including the Honorable Minister of Special Duties, the Permanent Secretary of State House, the Executive Secretary of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), the Executive Secretary of National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA), Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), and the Director General of the Boundary Commission. Each provided insights into their agencies’ operations, potential, and challenges. After thorough deliberations, the committee adjourned for further considerations.
Committee on Alternative Education Oversight Function:
Following the Committee on Special Duties session, Hon. Prince Olaide Lateef Mohammed actively participated in the Committee on Alternative Education. Under the leadership of Hon. Aliyu Ibrahim Almustapha, the committee received a progressive report from Nigeria’s Mass Reduction of Out-of-School Children and Youth Project (NiMPROP). Committee members had the opportunity to contribute after the report, leading to extensive discussions. The committee adjourned its session for subsequent considerations.
Committee on North-East Development Commission (NEDC) Oversight Function:
Hon. Polam continued his commitment to legislative oversight by participating in the Committee on North-East Development Commission (NEDC). This marked the third oversight function for Hon. Polam in this regard. The NEDC, established through Act No. 7, 2017, is a statutory body dedicated to the rehabilitation and long-term development of the North-East Zone following insurgency challenges. General Paul Tarfa (Rtd), Chairman of NEDC, provided a brief overview of the agency’s operations, prospects, and challenges. The committee engaged in substantial deliberations before adjourning for subsequent meetings.
